What Does PK Mean In Betting? A Detailed Explanation

  • July 2, 2024

As a sports betting expert, I often find people feeling confused about “PK” in betting. Since they are not familiar with the term, they find it hard to comprehend it. If you also want to know the meaning of PK in betting, you have come to the right place.

Well, PK is a simple betting strategy used by oddsmakers to improve poor moneyline odds, back a favourite with agreeable odds, or bolster a parlay. I will further elaborate on this topic in the below write-up. So, if you are interested in learning the meaning and importance of PK in betting, you should give this post a read.

In creating this article, I was helped by my friends at New Zealand gambling magazine DashTickets, who even developed their own DashScore ranking to identify the best platforms for players.

What Does PK Exactly Mean In Betting?

PK is an abbreviation for “pick’em” or “pick” and refers to money wagers in point-spread betting. In sports betting, oddsmakers use PK to indicate that neither team is the underdog or favourite. In such cases, the point spread remains zero.

When you place a PK bet in sports betting, you are wagering on a team regardless of the profit margin. In this type of betting, you don’t win a lot of money. It’s more like betting a dollar just for the sake of excitement to win a dollar – DashTickets said.

Let me give you an example, so you will better understand the details. Consider two teams participating in a Super Bowl match. Now one of the players gets injured before the game starts. In this case, the point spread reduces to a point where it turns into a PK game.

In these situations, you will have something like Team X – PK (-110) and Team Y – PK (-110) displayed in the sportsbook. This means, if you wager $110 on a team, you win $100 if your team manages to win. As you can see, the winning margin is not much.

You can bet in a PK game both online and offline. Now that you know what PK means in betting, it should be easier for you to handle such betting situations.

How Does A PK Bet Works?

Now let me explain how a PK bet works. If you ever decide to indulge in a PK bet, you might find this information helpful.

A PK bet turns a spread bet into an agreeable money line. Since the point spread is stuck at zero, it requires you to bet on either side. You win the bet if the team you bet on wins.

According to DashTickets, even though it is similar to a money line, it is different. That’s because, in PK betting, the lines are identical which is not the case in a moneyline bet. In the latter, you have different odds.

I believe PK betting can be beneficial if you handle it correctly. This is especially true when the odds for the favourite are better than the money line.

How To Place A PK Bet?

If you decide to indulge in a PK bet, you must follow these steps to get started.

  • First, you need to sign up for an online casino that offers sports betting. Make sure to choose a trusted and licensed casino.
  • After creating an account, you must deposit money in it. You can enter any amount higher than the minimum limit.
  • Once everything is done, you can start looking for a PK bet.
  • If you are satisfied with the PK bet, you can proceed to wager on it.
  • Now you can sit back and watch the game. If your team wins, you win the bet.

Final Words

Now that I have reached the end of my explanation, I hope the concept of PK in betting is clear. It is a betting type similar to moneyline, but different. If you have more questions, feel free to ask me.
