Gambling makes my life more exciting. Yesterday was further evidence of that. I returned home from a 10 mile trail run, to find Fils 2 sets to love up against Hurkacz (7-6 6-4).
Having back the young Frenchman with a +4.5 handicap I was looking at an easy winner, at least that’s what I thought. Whilst preparing my lunch Hurkacz took the 3rd set 6-2.
He broke midway through the 4th set and young Fils looked a beaten man with the MPH slowing down on his serve and his passion dwindling.
At that point if you had offered me my £20 back I would have leapt at that opportunity. But then it all changed. Fils broke back and at 7-7 in the tie break I was just a couple of points away from a winner.
What happened next you couldn’t script. Hurcazk produced an amazing dive at the net to retrieve a passing shot from Fils, the ball clambered over the net, leaving an open court for Fils to set up match point. Somehow he dumped an easy winner into the net.
Whilst I was bemoaning my luck I hadn’t noticed that Hurkacz was still on the grass, in some discomfort. In fact it was a good 3-4 minutes before he was able to limp back to his chair to receive a medical time out.
Another 5 minutes past and seemed no hope that Hurkacz would make a return to the court. But with heavy strapping and what seemed an inability to walk properly he took his place to continue.
Fair play to Hurkacz he played 2 good points. Getting at least 4 or 5 balls in play, but Fils did the sensible thing and moved him around the court to set up match point. Just one more point needed and the my bet would be a winner.
But Hurkacz had other ideas, he then decided enough was enough and he retired injured. I couldn’t help but question why not just play one more point and let Fils have the win fair and square, that would have been respectful to his opponent.
Anyone that backed Fils to win or +1.5 sets or took Andy Schooler’s advice and backed the 1st set tie break would have been left smiling. Not me. Still, watching the match, which I would otherwise have had no interest at all, made my day.
So I have £20 back in my pocket to Stick or Twist? Obviously a no brainer. It’s an easy Twist.
I’ve followed the advice of Lewis Jones once again who fancies an attacking clash between Spain v Germany in the Euro 2024 Quarter Finals this afternoon He’s backed both teams to have 5+ corners.
I’d be a backer of over 55.5 looks at the clock today. 5pm, hurry up pal.
Spain v Germany should be a goals, corners, shots & fouls festival for punters.
I’ve got a bet on each game…
P+L #EURO2024 = +11.9@Betfair

Spain have had 5 or more corners in their last 10 matches. Germany have had over 4 corners in their last 8 games. What else do you you need to know?
Lewis Jones is one of my favourite football tipsters right now and is +11pts in profit for the Euro’s. Let’s hope he lands another winner today and I get the opportunity to stick or twist tomorrow.
Good luck if you are betting on the Euro’s today or the Spain v Germany game. Always gamble responsibly & never bet more than you can afford to lose.
Oh and it’s Dee offering the best odds on this selection, I consider the Super Boost but have had too many losers of late following that feature.
Bet: Spain & Germany both to have Over 3 Corners – 2pts @ 1.83
