The 2021/22 Premier League is turning out to be one of the most exciting in recent memory, especially when it comes to the title race.

Rarely have we got so far into a Premier League season and found that there are still a few teams in the race, and this year we have exactly that – a proper three-way title race.

Liverpool

Man City

Man City aren’t unlike Liverpool in that they regularly turn teams over and beat them by significant margins. 6-0 and 7-0 wins aren’t unheard of with this team, and the Citizens have been bolstered this year by the addition of football’s £100 million man, Jack Grealish.

Man City’s squad is arguably stronger now than some of the recent years in which they have won the league under Pep Guardiola’s leadership. Defensively, Ruben Dias has been a revelation, and the team can also rely on the steel of Rodri to anchor the midfield. On top of that, we all know about the creative talent that Man City have to draw on.

Pep’s team may well go down in history as one of the greatest ever to have graced the Premier League, and as well as an amazing first team, impressive youngsters like Cole Palmer are now threatening to challenge some of the senior players. Even if City pick up some injuries, we’re backing them to do incredibly well.

It’s not a bold call to gamble on Man City to win the Premier League this year, especially as they are defending champions. However, they have had some strange results already this season, such as the 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace.

They’re the favourites, and for good reason, but it is not a certainty that Man City will be the ones to win the Premier League.

Chelsea

It’s over five years since Chelsea last won the Premier League, but it would be foolish to rule out the current European champions.

Under Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea have been playing some impressive football. The German manager has brought a lot of players in from the cold and allowed them a second chance at becoming Chelsea legends.

Chelsea are an outside bet at the moment, and sit behind Man City and Liverpool in the race for the title, but they have been without some crucial players. With Mason Mount and Romelu Lukaku returning from injury recently, the squad has been heavily bolstered, and it wouldn’t shock anyone if this team found a way to go on a run and contend for the Premier League.

Some people may still be tempted by the likes of Manchester United and Spurs under new managers, but these two teams are a long way off the pace. The 2021/22 season may come too soon, but other teams gaining momentum can only be a good thing for the competition in the Premier League moving forward.

There’s no clear winner at this stage, and it seems like a three-horse race going into 2022 – that’s what makes the Premier League so exciting.
