I love to gamble. It’s fun. That’s my approach these days. Profit isn’t my sole focus, but that said I still like to win, so I’m far more selective with my bets than ever before.
Back in 2023 I was following every tipster I could find and in a 6 month period I placed over 6,000 bets. The result? 72pts of profit and a 2.4% ROI.
Like now, I had access to a lot of the best tipsters, free and paid, so those returns were quite disappointing and didn’t involve any subscriptions fees (I wasn’t having to pay any).
In the last 7 months, with my selective approach, I’ve placed just 500 bets. I have a small group of tipsters I like to follow but I don’t back all of their tips. I simply back my favourites.
I’m always on the look out for value so when I hear or read comments like “that price is just wrong” or “those odds are too big”, that’s when I get excited.
So how have I fared in the past 7 months you ask. Pretty well. My profit is similar to before, slightly higher in fact at +74.5pts. I only bet £10 per point, so I’m making about £100 profit a month. That’s peanuts for most people I know but I’ve paid for a few weekends away for me and my girlfriend over the winter.
My ROI is a very healthy 13.4%. Anything over 10% in my book is excellent and that’s always the mark I would be looking to achieve. In fact long term I would accept anything between 5-10%.
So which tipsters are winning me this money? Well sadly the truth is, not many of them. 78% of my total profit has come from Super Boosts. I only have access to two bookmakers offering Super Boosts and my stakes range from £10 – £40. That max stake is when I really believe there is massive value in the boost.
So £580 of my £745 profit has come from these boosts. So if you can take advantage of these super boosts then I would strongly recommend it. I have friends who gamble and for whatever reason choose not to back them. I think they believed they are being duped in some way.
The bookmakers strategy is a clever one and it’s no surprise that their boosts are often on the early fixtures or even first half markets. Knowing full well a lot of punters who do win courtesy of the boost will lose their money on something else that day.
But it gives us shrewd punters the opportunity to take advantage. £580! To me that’s a pretty decent sum of money and all for nothing really. I’ve not even had to work to find the bet, they are handed to me on a plate.
As for which tipsters have been profitable to follow. Jimmy the Punt has landed me +23.15pts of profit. Anon Darts Bets has been on a superb run with his free selections, netting me +7pts.
Andy Schooler (+4.6pts), Joe Townsend (+4pts), Lewis Jones (+4.2pts) and Matt Cooper (+3.6pts) have all won me money. Still a long way short of the Super Boost returns, but profit all the same.
I’m really pleased now to be gambling at low stakes, enjoying listening to podcasts and reading articles from some of the best tipsters around. Winning a few quid on the side it just a bonus for me and long may if continue. I’m now saving up to buy a new action camera with my winnings and I’m £180 of the £300 needed for that target.
