Oh how I was teased last week by the two selections of Ben Coley’s I backed. Whenever I returned to check in at flashscores on the process of Charl Schwartzel he’d moved about 30 places on the leaderboard.
From -1 to -8, just before the conclusion of Round 2. I was hopeful of a weekend charge only to see him back to Level par midway through Round 3. Seriously. I was probably even more surprised to see him -5 at the end of that round.
Flashscores then really kick me in the bollocks by suggesting Kim and Thitikul had forced a playoff with a birdie on the last when in fact their scores were wrong and they had in fact finished 2nd. Brilliant.
Anyhow. What of Oihan Guillamoundegey? A young French player who’s been very consistent on the Challenge Tour. 5 Top 20s in his last 11 events. Also T21, T21 and T28 in 3 more recent tournaments.
He was 27th here 2 years ago, so he seems to play well most weeks he tees it up. Playing a more strategic game with the Top 20 market.
