I love Chris Kirk. I love the First Round Leader market. The Sony Open is alright as well. Put the three together and I had to get involved. Dave Tindall is the man that has posted this selection.

Kirk has a fantastic record in this event and is making his 15th appearance. He’s twice been a runner up and his last 4 visits read 18-3-27-2.

He’s twice led after round 1 as well. He shot a 63 in 2018 to lead after 18 holes and more recently a 64 was good enough to top the leaderboard at the end of play Thursday in 2023.

You only have to go back 6 starts for the last time Kirk landed a win in this market and that came at TPC Southwind.

I’m always keen to back the early starters who might get the best of the conditions so his 8am tee time could be a benefit too (I’ve not checked the forecast, I assume Dave Tindall did that).

My bro messaged our sibling WhatsApp group to say a work colleague who new Ledley King had managed to get tickets for tonight’s semi final and the final (should Spurs get there). My response was “make the most of this evening then”.

Tottenham have conceded 22 goals in their last 8 home games. Liverpool have scored 25 goals in their last 8 away games. This could be carnage. They met here recently in the Premier League, Liverpool scored 6.

Spurs defence is decimated by injuries and there is little they can do about it.

Salah has been in excellent form this season scoring in his 7 of his last 8 matches in all competitions, including 2 here in the 6-3 in the Premier League.

How do you find value? The best way is to spot a trend before it happens. Man City’s demise is the perfect example, spotted perfectly by Lewis Jones who must have won a few quid laying them off in recent months.

Finding a young golfer on the rise is another good way to find value. Have I come in too late on Luke Clanton? Perhaps. But Matt Vincenzi said in his preview this week that he’s “among the most talented players on the planet”.

Looking back at his last 6 PGA Tour events he has finished T2 at the RSM Classic, 5th in the Wyndham Championship and T2 in the John Deere Classic. Low scoring events, with two of them held on courses that require a similar skillset this week.

There is also the added incentive of Clanton chasing a place on the PGA Tour. A win this week would allow him to turn professional and secure his card. A Top 5 finish would go a long way to doing that over the next few months.
