It’s a hot topic in the gambling industry these days about how quickly some bookmakers limit punters. A sniff that you might be a winning customer and bookies are not afraid to take action.
It’s hard to believe that I currently get limited on accounts where I’ve made a loss of -£400 over a two year period. Why would they limit a losing customer?
They are looking at the type of bets you make and deeming it’s unlikely you will make them a long term profit and thus make that unfair decision.
It’s awful. It makes the gambling industry a bit of a scam. But at the moment it’s allowed and accepted by the authorities. So what us shrewd punters need to do is be clever and try to find ways to keep ourselves off the bookmakers radar.
Now obviously we still want to win, but as mentioned above, it’s often the type of bets you place that the bookies are monitoring. So the first piece of advice is to use some of your winnings and place the odd accumulator bet.
I’ve just set up a new blog site at bktips.co.uk which has a Daily Acca & Daily Double feature. Both have landed some winners and whilst they may not return a long term profit it may actually prove financially beneficial in the long run if it keeps you from being limited.
Obviously the more you place the better but you don’t want to lose much. Keep your stakes down to a minimum when you do place an Acca and that way it shouldn’t dent your profit too much.
Snapping up the best odds is another alarm bell for bookies. If they see punters that are only betting with them when they are top price on the odds comparison sites then they know it could spell trouble.
I’m forced to place bets at lower odds these days having been limited at many bookies, but it may pay to place the occasional bet at a lower price at the bookies you fear being limited with.
All bookmakers these days have other products as well. Whether it be poker, bingo, casino or games, these are real money spinners for the bookies and show them that a customer could be worth keeping.
So the occasional visit to a bookmakers Casino to play Table Online Games could keep you in their good books. The payouts are fairly decent so if you were to wager £10 you should get £9 back so it won’t dent too much into those profits.
Slots are also very popular. With a lower payout slots are great for bookmakers but not so good for punters. I learned at an early age from fruit machines that you have to be a real mug punter to put money into those machines.
So bookmakers which see punters spending money on Netent Video Slots are obviously going to be quite keen to keep your accounts in business. Even if you only lose £5 a month they might keep you active in the hope that will increase.
Make the most of the free spins offers and casino promotions that are on offer. You’d be unlucky to lose from these and again bookmakers will be less likely to restrict you if they see activity on these other products.
At the end of the day until the authorities step in, this is always going to be an issue, but by taking these steps we can at least hope to delay the inevitable for as long as possible.
