Gambling can be an emotional rollercoaster. I guess that’s why we do it right? Some of the luck recently has been insane. I go back a few weeks to a tennis match. I had £20 on Huessler to beat Stricker and after securing the first break of the match he led 7-6 5-4 and just needed to hold serve to win the match. Something he had already done 10 times on the spin.
He won the first 3 points to lead 40-0. I’m not sure what price he would have traded at but it can’t have been much bigger than 1.01. You can guess what happened next. At 40-15 he missed an easy over head and the rest is history. I mean how does a player lose from that situation.
What about Webb Simpson. I only had £8 on Webb Simpson to win his 2nd Round 3 ball at the Wyndham Championship. With 1 hole to play he had a 2 shot lead over both his playing partners. It would have been unlucky for him to lose 3 shots on the final hole and down my bet, but what actually happened was unprecedented.

Play was suspended. All 3 of the group were missing the cut. So rather than wait for the resumption, Simpson and Kisner took it upon themselves to withdraw from the tournament. Love III who won the 3 ball on Day 1 at a massive price (he’s 58 years old), came back out, bogeyed the last hole and duly cost me my £8. Unbelievable.
Golf has been killing me lately. I’ve lost a lot of money the past 3 weeks on golf and it’s the reason I’m still £137 down. Brian Stuard the latest player to kick me in the bollocks. He spent most of the week in the Top 5. He slipped out of the Top 10 my the turn on Sunday and then duly f****d up the back 9 to finish 1 shot outside the place. Another £100 gone!
It wasn’t all doom and gloom and we need to remember this as punters. We often tend to forget the good breaks. Narine took a wicket on the final ball of his spell to land me a £100 payout. Thanks to nellberg for that tip. He’s been in excellent form.
I put up Ben White to be carded for Palace. Another £100 winner. Overall for the week I was about £80 up and I’m slowly reducing my losses. My goal is not to become rich. It’s not even to win. It’s to have fun and break even! I love gambling. I love the thrill of a winner, I love how it makes a boring day interesting and keeps me watching all kinds of different sports. If I can enjoy that for free, then I’ll be a happy man.
Until next week. Gamble responsibly folks.
