Accumulators are fun. The reason they are fun is that we can potentially win a large sum of money for a small investment. But ultimately, the probability of our accumulator winning is almost certain to be much lower than the odds the bookmaker is offering.
It’s for this reason bookies love punters who do accumulators. I’ve been betting and tipping for 25 years. Sometimes I can’t pick a single winner at odds on, let alone 5 outsiders in the same bet.
That said if backing accumulators brings you enjoyment and your stakes are low, keep doing it. But I have an alternative method which I think is going to be more exciting and save you money.
It’s the Rolling Accumulator. I know. It’s been done before. Twitter was polluted with tipsters using this method. That was until bookmakers stopped affiliates from doing it. They claimed it encouraged irresponsible gambling.
But I believe the real reason was that suddenly punters winning and bookmakers don’t tend to like this.
So what is the difference between the two? In essence a weekend accumulator will be made up of poorly selected bets, done with little consideration, at odds far lower than the actual probability.
A rolling accumulator is very different. Each bet allows you to be more selective and pick the wager that day. If you are limited to one bookmaker account you can find a bet that your bookmaker is offering the best odds.
If your first bet wins, you take that money and reinvest it into your next selection. But again, take your time, find a bet with good odds or even follow some tipsters for advice and choose their selections.
I’ve been left completely disheartened by the gambling industry in recent years. So much so I rarely bet. In fact I place one bet a day. I’ve got a small list of tipsters and I read their tips that day and then pick my favourite and back that.
If that bet wins, I’ll reinvest the winnings the next day. Is that irresponsible? 1 bet a day? If my rolling accumulator loses on Day 5, I’ve only lost my initial stake. So in theory I’ve had 1 losing bet across a 5 day period.
The excitement that comes with the stake building one day to the next is what really appeals.
Give it a try, you might just find you start enjoying gambling more and suddenly what proved a costly hobby is now a profitable one.
