I’m back! Loving my gambling again, placing an absolute shit load of bets, but glad to say, winning, so far at least.
When I first created betting kingdom as a tipster competition (see pic below) all tips were settled with a flat stake of 10. I was convinced this was the best way to gamble. How little did I know.
I was stubborn as well at is was only several years later and when the tipster competition was booming that I introduced varying stakes. It was a game changer for tipsters and for me as a punter.
These days tipsters will generally use a points system for their staking plans. It’s important to factor in what scale they operate on. You may have one tipster operating on a 1-3 point scale and another 1-10pts.
In this scenario a 2pt stake means a big difference between those two tipsters. So before you start following any tipster, factor in their highest stakes and their average stakes.
I would also advise starting off with a very cautious approach. Winning is not easy and don’t assume that just because you are now following tipsters showcasing impressive profit that you will match that.
My approach since I started betting again is to vary my stakes for each tipster. The decision of how much I bet per point depends on a number of factors.
- My confidence in that tipster!
- Their average stake.
- Their win percentage.
- The volume of bets.
At the moment, I’m backing £10 per point with my top tipsters. These are tipsters I have a lot of confidence in, that will return me a long term profit.
These betting tipsters are also likely to have a higher win percentage, thus reducing the risk of long losing runs.
These tipsters are also likely to have a low average stake. I wouldn’t dive in at £10 per point with a tipster averaging 5pts per selection.
Ben Coley is a good example. A brilliant tipster, arguably the best online. But I’ve started staking just £2.50 per point following his tips.
Why you may ask? Well sometimes he could stake as much as 6pts on a 20/1 shot. He’s only got to have a few bad weeks and suddenly I’ve lost a shit load of money before I’ve even got started.
In fact I lost £110.40 following Coley before the first winner arrived. Had I been betting £10 per point, that would have been £440 in a matter of weeks. Ouch!
He’s since landed me some nice winners and I’m in profit, but I may have quit had I lost £400.
So be patient, assess each tipster individually and take a conservative approach to begin with. After 100 bets for each tipster I shall post a review on the site and then reconsider my staking plan with that tipster.
