The largest casino in the United States is the WinStar World Casino and Resort. Located just north of the Texas border in Thackerville Oklahoma, the WinStar over a little bit under 600,00 square feet of gaming space. It has 8,100 gaming machines in addition to 100 table games plus 55 poker rooms.
This WinStar might not be the largest casino in the world, although they claim to be, but it is at the top of the list in the United States. This is a country that has thousands of casinos in operations with new casinos opening their doors daily. The WinStar has been chosen as the largest because using floor space size, gaming records places the WinStar as the largest.
It is prudent to remember that Native American casinos are not that transparent with their records. It is a bit difficult to conclude on how big they are. This challenge is the reason why some Native American casino might not be listed here. That been said lets list the largest casinos in the United States starting with the WinStar World Casino and Resort.
This casino has 55 poker rooms, 100 table games, 8,100 gaming machines, bingo, keno, high limit room and racer’s off-track. It is located in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The casino cover 600,00 square feet of gaming floor. It is owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation which opened its doors to the world in 2004 as WinStar Casino. It got renamed to the WinStar World Casino and Resort in 2009. The casino is land based and is host to some of America’s most notable restaurants, so it feels like you are still at home when you pay a visit to WinStar World Casino and Resort.
The WinStar World Casino and Resort is not only known for the vastness of its gaming offerings to visitors or its over 1000 room hotel, it is also popular for its 3,500 seat Global Event Center. This event center has been host to the iconic Davy Jones who performed there at his final concert in 2012. It has also played host to some iconic names in the entertainment industry such as Lil Wayne, Maroon 5, Kid Rock, Jay Leno amongst some other notable names in music. The casino has also made a giant stride in history by been the official sponsor of the Dallas Cowboys. This makes it the first partnership between an NFL team and a casino.

The notable restaurants at the WinStar World Casino and Resorts are Panda Express, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill, Vino’s Italian Eatery, Palladium Sports Lounge, Diary Queen, Le Paris Bakery and Cafe, Matador’s Pizzeria, NYC Burgers and Dogs, Mickey Mantle’s, Terrace View Café, El Fenix, Gran Via Buffet, Kirby’s Steakhouse, IHOP Express, Khan’s Fire Mongolian Grill, Red River Grill, Chips ‘N’ Ales, Capisce Ristorante Italiano, Orange Julius. The restaurant Red River Grill is inside one of the over 55 poker rooms at the WinStar. A good number of these restaurants are open till late, so you are assured of finding what you want to eat no matter the time of day.
There is a reason why the casino name has ‘and Resorts’. The change from just WinStar Casinos to the addition of ‘and Resorts’ was to launch the 395 room hotel tower in 2009. This opening was a grand affair that saw performances from American sweetheart Kelly Clarkson and Lynyrd Skynyrd rock band. The hotel not only opened with rooms for guest to lodge but also boast of meeting rooms, Spa Habitat, a resort style pool, a custom built waterfall grotto, the cloverleaf boutique gift shop also. The meeting rooms in the WinStar World Casino and Resort can seat between 10-200 persons depending on the room.
The WinStar did not stop at 395 rooms. In 2013 and 2014 respectively, the WinStar opened two hotel towers named the Pool Tower North and the and the Pool Tower South. Both towers house 500 rooms each and are adjacent to each other. The WinStar also has a 100 room inn and operates a shuttle serve which can be accessed from the casino.
Although the WinStar World Casino and Resorts is by far the largest, there are some other casinos which are worthy of note. We would begin with the Foxwoods Resort Casino which was the largest before the WinStar opened it 600,000 square feet of casino goodness. The Foxwoods is located in Mashantucket, Connecticut with 344, 000 square feet of gaming floor, hosting 4,800 gaming machines plus 280 tables games.
Next up would be, Mohegan Sun. also located in Connecticut but in Uncasville, it covers 340,000 square feet, 350 tables games and 5,087 gaming machine more than Foxwoods. The Mohegan Sun has three casinos in one. It is comprised of the Casino of the Earth, Casino of the Sky and Casino of the Wind.
Following at the heels of the Mohegan Sun would be, San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino. This one is located in Highland, California. It covers 220,000 square feet of gaming space, no poker rooms sadly, 100 table games and more plus 4,700 slot machines. Although there are claims that the total number of square feet is 480,000, this is true but as regards casino and gaming only 220,000 of it is dedicated to gaming.
Then we have the Riverwind Casino in Norman, Oklahoma at 219,000 square feet. The Choctaw Casino Resort also in Oklahoma but in Durant, at 218,000 square feet. The Seminole Hard Rock Casino located in Tampa, Florida with 216,000 square feet. It is good to not that the Seminole although smaller when compared to other casinos in terms of square feet, is the third largest in the United States in terms of number of machines. The casino has 5,000 slot machines. Then we have the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort located in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan at 210,000 square feet and finally we have, Pechanga Resort and Casino located in Temecula, California.
