With the Premier League Darts league now over and the final line up for the finals confirmed for Thursday 22nd October, we look ahead who is most likely to take home the Premier League this year where it is all up for grabs due to the absence of Michael Van Gerwen who has won the competition for the past four years straight.
Favourite going into the finals is none other than the man in-form and the current World Champion Peter Wright. He is 13/8 top win the Prem because of how he is throwing his darts at the moment, simply immaculate. Since winning that first world championship, Wright has come into his own and become a virtually unplayable darts player. He finished the league stage with 4 consecutive wins including an 8-1 demolition of current champions Michael Van Gerwen.
Whilst we wait for the highly anticipated finals night in late October, us darts punters have had to find alternative ways of trying to force a profit whilst there has been no darts on the big screen; very similar to the lock downed months of this year. Many bookies have reported a trend of darts punters in fluxing online casinos markets such as here at The Best Casinos, to ensure we can still get our in-house entertainment from the comfort of our own homes.
Next favourite on the list is that of Premier League veteran Gary Anderson who has previously won the competition back in 2011 and 2015. Having been in a rich vein of form through 2016, 2017 and 2018, winning the World Championships and finding himself in multiple finals, but in 2019 he announced that he has been struggling for the past couple of years with back problems and therefore withdrew from the Masters and the Premier League. In this case though, The Flying Scotsman is back with a bang in 2020 with him now being priced at 11/4 to win the Premier League.
The final two contenders in this year’s final four come from two rookies who are both in their first seasons the Premier League are Glen Durrant and Nathan Aspinall priced at 7/2 and 10/3 respectively. Durrant took the league by storm in his debut season by topping the leader board and be the first player to qualify for the finals. Nathan Aspinall was looking unlikely to quality at all but with MvG losing momentum, Aspinall secured the final spot with a 124 finish against Durrant on Night 16.
