Football has evolved. It’s all about xG and statistics. “Process, Process, Process”, that’s the buzz word. As punters we can learn from this approach.
One of the biggest mistakes we can make is getting to wrapped up in the outcome of individual results. Especially when things are not going our way.
I’m guilty of doing the same. I’ve found myself watching Challenger Tennis matches on my iphone in the early hours of the morning, convincing myself this match is crucial to my long term profit. It’s not.
That is a bad habit to get into. As punters we have no control over the results. All we can do is focus on the process.
That process is to find the best tipsters and trust their knowledge. It’s all about the long game, not whether the next bet wins or loses. So try not to obsess about the outcome of each individual bet, it will drive you nuts.
Keep watching sport though, ultimately that’s probably the main reason we gamble in the first place. But again, don’t focus purely on your wagers.
I recall a bet I had £50 on Lerma to be carded in a match earlier in the season. I couldn’t take my eyes off him. I was also stressed about losing £50. It was horrible. I didn’t enjoy the game and I felt like shit when the bet lost. Had I placed a £5 bet on Lerma that day I would have much more relaxed.
If you get the process right, find the correct tipsters and build a good portfolio, then ultimately the results will take care of themselves.
You should also make sure your staking plan is correct. If your stakes at the right level, each individual bet won’t hold too much importance.
If you can get yourself into the headspace that no result really matters and that in the long run the process will work, it will make your gambling and sport viewing far more enjoyable.
Easier said that done, especially when like me your are currently losing money, but do try.
