Man City, Liverpool Dominating EPL Title Betting
The phrase “you snooze, you lose” has never been more applicable than now. If you didn’t get on Manchester City or Liverpool prior to the EPL season, now may be too late. These two teams have raced to the top of the table, with Liverpool sitting top on a perfect 9 points and City second with 7 points.
We checked out the latest bet365 EPL premiership odds and they’re showing Manchester City, 4/9, and Liverpool, 5/2. Tottenham, who started the season a 16/1 chance, have blown out to 33/1. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea, have lengthened to 50/1. Wolves, Leicester, and Everton, the only other teams given any sort of chance at the beginning of the season, are now paying 250/1, 400/1, and 500/1 respectively to win the English Premier League.
EPL Top 4 Odds Are a Little More Interesting
Veterans of English Premier League betting know that the top 4 odds are where the interesting bets can be found. With Manchester City, 1/200, and Liverpool, 1/40, virtual certainties to finish in the top 4, attention turns to which two other teams can crack the top 4 and a place in next year’s UEFA Champions League.
Despite their ordinary start to the 2019-20 English Premier League season, Spurs are considered the likeliest top 4 contender, at odds of 1/2. Next up is their fierce North London rival Arsenal, 1/1, followed by Manchester United, 6/5, and Chelsea, 2/1. Running the ruler down the list, we find Leicester, 10/1, Everton and Wolves, 16/1, and West Ham, 40/1 as the only other realistic contenders.
More than Half of Clubs in Relegation Picture
At the other end of the table, as many as 14 clubs could be in the relegation picture. The current likeliest team to b e relegated is Sheffield United, who are paying 10/11 to go straight back down to the Championship after earning promotion last season. Another newly promoted side, Norwich City, is paying 6/4 to be relegated. Newcastle failed to make much of an impact on punters after their shock win at Tottenham over the weekend, and are paying 11/8.
The next eight relegation candidates, in order of their relegation odds, are: Burnley, 9/4, Aston Villa and Watford, both 5/2, Brighton, 11/4, Crystal Palace, 10/3, Bournemouth, 7/2, Southampton, 5/1, and West Ham, 12/1. Three other clubs could find themselves in the relegation picture if they’re not careful: Wolves, 33/1, and Everton, and Leicester City, both 40/1. At the other end, Man City and Liverpool are both 4,500/1 for relegation.
