I really wish I had more to tell you. It’s been a quiet week. I’ll give you a quick snippet on my progress. Profit stands at +63.5pts and a ROI of 11.2%.
My 2nd tipster review is about to be published and several others are getting closer to that 100 bets total.
I’ve been impressed with racing tipster Steve Ryder from Oddschecker. I had initially been following him and Andy Holding. But when I took a closer look at their yearly stats it was evident Steve Ryder was producing much better returns.
It was a good decision as Steve Ryder has turned his form around & I’ve gone from -7pts to +1pt. Had I kept following Holding I may have been -20pts down now following his tips (-9.55pts was what I finished on with only 2 winners from 29 bets).
I have to say it’s still a small sample and Andy Holding is showing a total profit of +12pts on the Oddschecker app for 2023. But when you factor in the volume of tips and how quickly the odds drop, it’s unlikely anyone following all of his tips this year will have been profitable.
That ties in with the title of today’s Diary entry as Andy Holding comes with a big reputation. He has lots of experience, his own paid service and is the main racing tipster for what is one of the biggest betting sites online. Yet his results have been, how can I put it, meh! At the end of the day, in the tipping game, results are all that matter.
There are a number of other football tipsters with big reputations working for a number of bookies/publications. The likes of Oddschecker, Betting Odds, Betting Expert and SportingLife. But I mentioned it before, their objective is mainly to provide content rather than profit.
Very few of these sites track the profit/loss of these tipsters, so for us punters it’s difficult to know whether they will be profitable or not. By the time you factor in the likelihood you’ll be backing 75% of their selections at shorter odds than they were tipped and suddenly they became far less appealing.
Moving on. Most of my profit is tied up in the golf this week. I backed Matt Vincenzi’s FRL tips win only (that’s his approach) and English (2nd) and Putnam (T4) would have netted more strategic punters a decent return.
I’m always on the lookout for new tipsters to follow. If you’re a tipster yourself and want an honest review then get in touch and I’ll happily start tracking and backing your tips.
