Golf is a frustrating sport. I played it to a decent level and once led my Club Championship by 4 shots at the halfway stage. Did I win? Did I fuck! The lowest handicap I reached was 3 and the better I got the more infuriating it became.
Golf Betting was going to be the key to success of this new punting venture of mine and that proved the case early on. The likes of Ben Coley, Golf Betting Club and Matt Vincenzi all boast impressive stats. It should be easy right?
It reminds me of another Club Championship round I produced. My putter was red hot and I made the turn in 4 under par, fully expecting to be in contention heading into the back 9.
Only to hear the news that Ben Evans (went on to play on the European Tour) was -5 for his front nine. Much like my golf betting has in recent months, my round crumbled, shooting 75 (+3), whilst Evans set a new course record of 65 and with it another Club Championship eluded me.
As it stands I’ve placed 1421 golf bets in the past 4 months. I’ve lost -11pts (£110) and my ROI is -2%.
Ben Coley who has been sensational over the past few years has been my biggest issue. -23.6pts down now and a ROI of -19.7%.
Golf Betting Club have kindly given me free access to their premium tips and I’m very grateful for that. Again I don’t want to judge these tipsters on what is still a small sample size. But equally I want to make punters aware of what can happen.
GBC have a ROI of over 20%. Mine is -18.3%, and that doesn’t include any subscriptions fees. I’m keeping the faith though. It would unfair of me to criticize them and not continue to follow their selections. I can’t imagine they’ve become bad tipsters over night.
It was the Racing Posts Ian Wilkerson who saved the day. I’ve been following Steve Palmer in recent weeks but he’s not on Twitter so you need to visit the RP site to get the selections.
Without double checking I assumes the tips were by Steve and backed them as normal. Realising my mistake I even tried to cashout, but that wasn’t an option. That proved very fortunate as Wilkerson put up Glover at 90/1 and it would have been an even worse week but for that.
My tipster list on bettin.gs has now surpassed 70 (most of them inactive). Of that list of 70 I think there are 8 that I could recommend to other punters. That’s a worrying stat.
My search continues.
