My big brother lives 100 miles away. It’s not that far in truth but with the recent pandemic it had been a while since I’d made the trip along the coast to see his new home and kids.
When my family arranged a trip I was keen to get involved, but naturally it involved me driving. At first I’d planned to stay overnight with my girlfriend in a swanky hotel (a Travel Lodge). Who knows I might even get the chance to watch some of the arrows.
But she’s been poorly and so plans changing and suddenly it was 200 miles worth of driving in the space of 12 hours. I’ve not driven more than 10 minutes down the road for the past 3 years, add in persistent heavy rain for much of the journey as I was mentally exhausted upon my return.
What was the first thing I did? I check my bets of cause. Well that was stupid. It was not a good day. Earlier in that morning I tweeted how Carl Fletcher was my most profitable darts tipster during the World’s, so clearly I cursed him. 4 tips, 4 losers.
Long day for me visiting family. 6 hours of driving. Returned to these betting stats.
▪️ Bets: 19
▪️ Winners: 4
▪️ Loss: -7.6pts
▪️ ROI: -49.8%Tough day! Brush it off, trust the tipsters I'm following and we go again tomorrow!!

In fact 15 of my 17 bets had lost and with Man City -1 now in the balance with Leeds pulling a goal back, I feared the worst. Much to my relief City held firm and I did manage to recoup some of my losses.
But it’s tough to take. 19 bets, 15 losses. This is following tipsters who I believe are the best at their game. So a -47% ROI for the day makes you question your judgement.
As I said on Twitter in the evening, these days happen. It’s important not to get too emotional. Even if you’ve driven 200 miles in hazardous conditions. Move on. Trust the tipsters and believe the results will improve. If they don’t, find different tipsters.
I’m still in the very earlier stages of testing new tipsters and not only finding which ones suit my betting habits, but which tipsters will be profitable for different types of punters. If it means losing a few quid in the process, so be it.
Onwards and upwards! Just to clarify, that isn’t my hand in the image.
