Rarely have I witnessed anything quite so spectacular in 30+ years of watching sport as that magical leg at Alexandra Palace last night.

I lost my shit! There’s no other way of describing it. I just let out this almighty roar of elation when Smith nailed the double 12, and it followed with another slightly higher pitched shriek of pleasure shortly afterward.

It was a moment of shear pleasure (I’m still talking about the 9 dart finish by the way). This is why we love sport. These incredible moments that lift our spirits.

From a betting perspective it was a great result. A big thank you to Chris Hammer for putting up Smith outright. I had 1pt at 15/2 netting me +7.5pts profit. Much needed after a slow start to my tipster experiment.

My overall loss stands at -3.4pts and a ROI of -1.3%. I’m not phased, it will take me time to discover the right tipsters for my betting habits and bookmaker availability, but I’m getting there.

The golf starts this week and tipster stats suggest this should be the most lucrative sport. I’m sticking with my high volume, low stakes approach. I’ll be following Ben Coley, Matt Vincenzi, SJP Golf Tips, JS Golfing Tips and Flavin Tips. All off the back of superb 2022 seasons.

Whilst backing more players brings more risk, it should mean more consistent results on a week to week basis. Time will time, but for now it’s how I want to approach it.

One tipster I would like to give a big shout out to is Go Collect. He’s my most profitable tipster to date, netting me +10pts of profit. He tips purely on US Racing and tends to focus on two tracks, Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita Park.

This is a good lesson for any tipster, narrow your focus and you’ll become more knowledgeable on those markets and spotting value will become much easier.
