Friday evening I was buzzing. Everything was finally coming together. I had clawed my way out of the red and into a decent profit of around +7pts. There was only way one I was heading from here! WRONG!
The weekend was a disaster. Tipsters that had been in good form struggled and those that had been searching for winners, failed to find them.
My profit went from +7 to -19pts across the weekend. Not good. So what is going wrong? I’m a punter with 25 years experience and building this tipster comparison site. I should be winning.
The main reason is it’s a small sample size. 580 bets may seem a lot, but I’ve only been betting for 3 weeks and that’s not enough time to make any judgements.
The golf kicked off last week. The tipsters I follow pretty much drew a blank between them. That was my biggest hit. To make matters worse I was on Colinn Morikawa.
After a bad weekend I made the mistake of getting too attached to a bet. Putting too much importance on the need for Morikawa to get the job done to claw back some of my losses.
It meant a late night and a bad mood. This is no way to approach your betting. These golf tipsters are all working at above a 25% ROI. They will come good. I’m sure of it. There might be weeks on the golf I net +50pts profit.
Patience is the key. Take a bit of time to find the right tipsters for you and then trust them. There is no doubt I’ve followed some of the wrong tipsters already, but by keeping my stakes down I’ve really limited the risk. I could easily have lost 4x the amount I have already.
-19pts might seem a lot but a couple of decent winners and that will change. I may refine my tipster portfolio slight and drop a few but I’m keeping the faith and hopefully when I update my punters diary next week I’ll be back in profit.
Plus my ultimate goal here is to learn how tipsters operate, whether their prices hold up and if the profit they advertise is achievable. I want to help other punters out and if it means I lose a few quid to begin with, then so be it.
