Thanks to Profit Tips for the winner yesterday, but patience might have to be the name of the game in the next few weeks with top flight football taking a back seat.
We’ve got the clay court season in full swing but I’ll be honest, I’ve never had a great deal of luck betting on the red dirt, or even tennis to be honest.
I was very tempted to back Vukic to upset Bublik in Lyon with the seeded player likely to be unmotivated on his least favourite surface, but the odds have dropped and I can’t get my head around whether there’s value to be had or not.
So instead it’s an early selection on the golf and following the headline pick from the excellent Matt Vincenzi. He’s keen on Tony Finau to have a big week and whilst he’s piling in win only around 30/1 my single bet in the Top 20 market is much more suited to my current approach.
I’m looking to build my pot gradually and to do that my win rate needs to be relatively high otherwise losing streaks will be common and I could easily see my funds disappear as I patiently wait for a big priced winner.
Tony Finau started better than he finished but still ended in the top 20 at the 2024 PGA Championship. 🏌️‍♂️#PGAChamp #PGATour #Golf https://t.co/ung55oC5XW

Plus with Finau’s terrible performances on the dance floor (he’s putting shit) this season, I’m inclined to think this market is probably the best route to back him. The way he’s striking the ball I’d almost be surprised if this bet fails to land.
Last week he led the field in Strokes Gained Approach (9.3) to finish T18 in the US PGA Championship. He recently posted a runner up finish here in Texas when T2 in the Houston Open.
6 of his 13 starts this year have resulted in Top 20 finishes including 3 of his last 5 events. The one I’ve yet to mention was T12 at Harbour Town.
Finau has a really strong record here at Colonial with a scoring average of 68.87. Only 4 players in the field, with multiple starts, can better that stat. Finau was 2nd here in 2019 and 4th in 2022.
Prior to his missed cut here last year (bit worrying) Finau had never finished outside the Top 35 in his previous 7 appearances. He clearly likes this track.
Most bookies are offering around 11/8 – 6/4. There’s some 13/8 available. Hardly exciting for a golf bet I know but it’s important to have some perspective. If this were a football match and most bookies were 11/8 on a team to win, you wouldn’t be able to get 13/8 anywhere.
If you’ve never followed Matt Vincenzi then check out his profile. He’s one of the best golf tipsters online with some fantastic results in recent season.
Bet: Tony Finau to finish in the Top 20 of the Scharles Schwab Challenge – 13/8 – 0.75pts
