The Euro 2024 tournament kicks off on Friday evening at 8pm with hosts Germany facing Scotland. Sadly with my girlfriend having no interest in football whatsoever and my old excuse of “I have to watch it, it’s for work” no longer holding substance, I doubt I’ll get the opportunity to see how this opener pans out.
That hasn’t stopped me placing a bet though. Two in fact. I believe our task as punters has been made very easy here. I seem to recall as a young lad being lured into opening a new bank account by collect 10 Hula Hoop stamps in exchange for a free £10 deposit. Whether I’m just imagining this I’m not sure, but whatever the deal was, it worked, I’ve been with said bank ever since.
This feels similar with the bookmakers luring us in with some fantastic opening day price boosts. I’m pretty sure they’d be happy to take a hit on the opening day, knowing full well those winnings are likely to be reinvested and lost as the tournament progresses.
Two of the leading bookies have come up with very generous “Super Boosts” and I’ve bitten their hand off. When I was tracking last year I backed the majority of the Super Boosts offered and finished with a ROI of over 20%.
In fact that mark topped any return from my list of tipsters and so it’s still my go to approach. I’ll be first to admit that often Price Boosts can be pretty shit, with better odds available if you shop around, but on this occasion they are well worth snapping up.
Speaking of shopping around, what are those muppets at Oddschecker up to. They seemed to have put a limit on how many odds grid I can look at without paying £9.99 per month to sign up. They can fuck right off. Especially given I’m limited to a handful of bookmakers these days, I’d rather go back to my original methods, in the good old days, going from one bookmaker to the next seeing if the price is bigger than the previous one.
The Canary (green & yellow) bookmaker are offering Evens on Over 1st Half Goals. I’ve invested 1.75pts into that selection. I had a quick look at recent Germany matches and found this bet landed in 9 of their last 10.
Our friends at SkyBet are offering Evens on Musiala to have 1 or more shots on target. Something which landed in 3 of their last 4 friendlies in the build up to this tournament. Upon further digging, FootyStats suggest the German youngster had 21 shots on target in 24 Bundesliga starts for Bayern this season. Does that sound right?
On a day where every football tipster is an international expert all of a sudden, there’s no need to spend hours on end reading all the match previews. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to find better value on offer than these two Super Boosts. If you do them please DM me.
As always please gamble responsibly (if allowed), keep your stakes to a sensible amount, where you can afford to lose and it’s still fun.
Bet: Germany v Scotland: Over 0.5 1st Half Goals – 1.75pts @ 2.0
Bet: Musiala 1+ shot on target – 1pt @ 2.0
