Absolutely loving the fact I gambling again. The missus isn’t so keen, even when I show her my detailed spreadsheet with a 54% ROI. Granted that’s after 7 bets, but still, I could have lost money.
How can this approach go wrong? A maximum of one bet a day, following some of the best tipsters across all sports. Surely I’m onto a winner?
Golf has always been my go to betting sport having tipped and gambled on it successfully for the best part of two decades. Whilst my current approach doesn’t really work backing outright picks at 20/1+ there’s always value to be had in the side markets.
Ben Coley and Jamie Worsley have both backed Matsuyama to be the Top Japanese player in the US PGA Championship this week. Coley has doubled up World Number 15 with Niemann top South American, but the 5pts stake at 2/1 highlights his confidence in the selection.
PGA Championship specials. When I just saw @JWorsley89's equivalent tweet and it mentioned an even-money shot, I felt sure I knew what it was. And I was correct.https://t.co/vPWG2lk7vR

Worsley commented on Coley’s tweet, “Arguably the best bet I’ve seen.” He’s lumped 4 points on Matsuyama as a single at Evens.
Luckily for me I can shop around a little and I’m amazed quotes of 11/10 (2.1) are still available. I think it highlights golf punters reluctance to accept smaller prices having been so used to 10/1+ in the outright markets.
For me I’m happy to bet at shorter odds in the hope it will boost my pot slowly. That pot has grown from ÂŁ50 to ÂŁ70 in just a week. Long may that continue.
So why are Coley and Worsley so keen on this bet. Well Matsuyama is a model of consistency when it comes to Major Championships on US Soil. In his last 23 appearances, he’s only once finished outside of the Top 40.
He was a very popular selection at Augusta with form figures of T7 – T6 – T12 – 1 heading into the first major of the season. He’s got course form too having played in the 2014 US PGA at Valhalla finishing 35th.
He’s up against 3 other players in this market. Nakajima has missed the cut in all 4 of his Major Championship appearances. It’s 8 missed cuts in 9 for Kanaya who surely lacks the power to do well on this softened beast of a course.
That leaves Hisatsune who’s making just his 2nd ever major appearance. You guessed it, he had the weekend off at the first one. I’m really quite excited by this one and confident in it’s chances. Hopefully it will add more gold to my ever growing pot as my love for gambling slowly returns.
