I’ve been aware of this relaunch from Bettin.gs for about 6 months now and having been in this industry myself I know how long these updates can take.
Yesterday the new site went live. I probably spend more time on Bettin.gs than any other website so this was quite exciting for me to see what changes were being made.
I should point out that I’ve only had an hour or so to look around the new features, so I’m sure there is plenty more on offer with this new design.
I use Bettin.gs to track my bets. The real benefit is the time it saves from using a traditional spreadsheet. My main use is so I can see how much profit/loss I’m making with each of the tipsters I have been following.
So for each Bet I add I always include which tipsters has made that selection. So I’m am very surprised and a little disappointed that Bettin.gs have chosen to remove the Tipster option of the main “Add Bet” screen. This to me seems madness. It’s been replaced my the “Tags” input box which I personally don’t see has anywhere near as much value.
To add the tipster I now need to click on “Details” which opens up a more complex screen with a lot more options. You could argue it only adds on a few seconds to each bet, but when “speed” is the key element, it is a step backwards in my opinion. Hopefully one they will consider changing.

It’s important to remember with these updates that they are not always going to be perfect at first. I’m sure they’ll listen to feedback, like my criticism above and tweak a few things going forward to make the site even better.
The other thing which worried me today was that the races from York were not in the database. Another real asset to this website is it stores most of the matches and events, making it so easy to add your bets. But when a race meeting or event is missing it then requires you to input all the information, without the auto select and in my case for accurate tracking, add the date too.
That probably adds on around 30-60 seconds per bet, which is quite a lot given the volume of bets I’m adding.
That’s the only two negatives I picked up on and I should add there is a lot of new features I really like. I do like the clear “Active Stats” information where you can see how many bets you currently have unsettled and how much you have invested.
Settling bets was always the most time consuming task on the previous platform but now there are a lot more options to filter the best you’ve placed. You can arrange them by date so you can only see bets placed on 1 given day, therefore making it much easier to see which bets need settling.
In the settings there is an Auto Settle option which I’ve ticked to see how that works. There are loads of other options and one I used was the change the currency. It was originally set to $ US Dollars but I changed that to “Units” as that’s how I prefer to track my bets.
I also set my bets to private as I follow a number of paid tipsters and it would be unfair to have those displayed for others to see.
One feature I do like is the “Tipsters” section where it lists the most profitable users. I’ve already found a new tipster to follow as a result and may explore a few more if I end up making a profit from the first one.
It would appear there might be plans to increase the monthly price to $15 which is a little worrying. At some point the price will get too much and google sheets will again become an option, but for now I am happy to continue to pay the monthly fee. Or if you join using the link below I will get a month free (thanks in advance).
